The Miserable One (Two?)

Why is one
always expected to become two?
especially by those who are already a two
we are born alone
and more often than not we die alone
so why should the inbetween be spent as a two
why not a three?
maybe a half dozen?
but no always a two
just to fit in

Now as I am a one
and pushing 30
you may think this an inevitable way for me to think
but you are wrong

I was always a two
I can't remember when I wasn't a two
until now
and I quite like being a one
until you twos come along
and make me feel odd

but I'd rather be a happy one than a miserable two and there's a lot of them about
