We all say we could've been
Could've been this
Could've been that
Could've been thinner instead of fat

Could've been a sportsman
if I'd got the break
Could've got there earlier
instead of always late

Could've been a better pupil
instead of in a fight
Could've passed my exams
Could've done it right

Could've got myself a career
instead of just a job
and these mortgage arrears

Well.. there wouldn't be any....

Could've been a caring person
Could've been a loving son
Could've been oh so proud
of everything I've done

And with all this talk of could've beens
I hope it makes you see
that your life could've been much worse
because you could've been me
